Modeselektor step up to the legendary DJ-Kicks series.
Berlin-based electronic duo Modeselektor have mixed the next entry in the DJ-Kicks series, out 12 September. The release coincides with the 30th anniversary of DJ-Kicks and the 40th anniversary of !K7 Records.
Modeselektor is the cult German duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, a pair renowned for blending genres across a career spanning over three decades. Beyond their solo work, they are also members of the acclaimed trio Moderat, alongside Sascha Ring, also known as Apparat. Their output includes influential albums, live performances, and releases across many top labels.
Their DJ-Kicks mix reflects Modeselektor’s broad musical range with 22 tracks that span club-ready techno, experimental electronica, and beatless ambient textures. The mix includes two original Modeselektor productions - 'MEGA MEGA MEGA' and a premiere collaboration with KITSCHKRIEG under the name Kitschselektor alongside selections from artists such as Little Simz, Ben Klock & Fadi Mohem, Slikback, Beirut, and Siriusmo. The mix also weaves in field recordings captured during the duo’s global touring schedule.
Bronsert says, “We didn’t want to make a club mix. I love club music, so does Szary. But we didn’t want to give people the full package, so we tried to tell a story. This mix is for listening in the car or at home. It’s weird, but not too much."
