OMRI. returns to Crosstown Rebels with three-track ‘Signals’ EP

OMRI. is returning to Crosstown Rebels with Signals, a new three-track EP landing July 24.

The release brings the producer back to Damian Lazarus’ imprint a year after ‘Nothing Wrong’, his 2025 debut for the label. That record became an important point in OMRI.’s recent trajectory, earning Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune recognition on BBC Radio 1 and bringing his increasingly psychedelic approach to house music to a wider audience.

Signals doesn't attempt to reconstruct that moment. Instead, its three tracks move further into the after-hours territory that has become increasingly present in OMRI.’s productions: rolling low frequencies, fragmented vocals and details that shift gradually rather than announcing themselves immediately.

The title track opens the EP around a persistent low-end groove, with spiralling effects moving around a female vocal hook. There is an intentional looseness to the arrangement, allowing small changes in texture and rhythm to do much of the work as the track develops.

‘The Space’ pulls things somewhere darker. Punchier drums sit against a heavier bassline while clipped vocal fragments appear and disappear throughout the arrangement, creating a sense of instability without breaking its momentum.

Closing track ‘Scenius’ moves further into abstraction. Acid-tinted textures and manipulated samples sit between crisp percussion, gradually changing the atmosphere of the record as it reaches its final stretch.

The EP arrives during a prolific period for OMRI., whose recent material has appeared across Hot Creations, TSZR, Higher Ground and AFFAIRS. Alongside those releases, he has continued developing Collecting Dots Records, his own imprint and another outlet for the musical world taking shape around his productions.

His return to Crosstown Rebels therefore lands differently from his first appearance on the label. ‘Nothing Wrong’ introduced the wider audience to that language. Signals finds him settling further inside it.
