Swedish brothers Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny unveil their second single, ‘Wide Awake,’ under the name of Modern Tales, their second single release on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records. The release comes off the heels of ‘Monster’, the duo’s debut track.
The foundation of ‘Wide Awake' is built on hypnotizing synth chords, making for an ethereal atmosphere, while the lyrics express an undeniable attraction between two lovers, with one lover declaring "I love you just this way.” The chorus builds in tandem with the percussion dancing back and forth in a call-and-response manner, then the bassline drops creating a complex and emotional sound that signals the song has culminated. “Wide Awake" is a perfect example of Modern Tales’ ability to blend different elements and emotions into a unique and captivating sound. The forthcoming album "Stars Align" is set to release on June 9th. Their passion for creating music for movies and their love for melodic-based soundscapes are evident in this album, which is the result of their strong bond as siblings and their creative energy.
Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny, two brothers from Sweden, have formed a unique partnership through their shared passion for music. Despite having achieved individual success in their respective fields, the brothers came together to create the beautifully crafted DJ duo, Modern Tales. In 2020, the brothers found hope in the midst of a dark and miserable cloud that had cast itself over the world. They came together to create a fresh outlet, centered around a blank sonic canvas. The result was a shared vision and feeling that produced music to move the mind, body, and soul. This music resonated with others and led to an invitation to support Rüfüs Du Sol on tour, and a record label, Rose Avenue, to release their music. The brother’s musical creations tell sonic stories that inspire goosebump-inducing moments and capture the truest feelings in the most authentic way.
