Claude VonStroke releases ‘Static In The Deep End’, a manifesto for the underground dancefloor
Claude VonStroke returns with “Static In The Deep End,” the first taste of his forthcoming album, Wrong Number. The track is a vibey, minimal club cut built for those who still believe that the heart of electronic music lives in a dark room with a proper sound system, far away from whatever is currently trending.
More than 20 years into his journey, VonStroke doubles down on his outsider status. “Static In The Deep End” features no superstar DJ cameos or chart-ready hooks. Instead, it leans into slightly crooked rhythms and patient tension, channeling the spirit of classic German minimal and house. It is a production engineered to provoke feelings rather than bottle service.
What makes Wrong Number a uniquely personal project is its familial core. Nearly every vocal on the album comes from within the VonStroke household: from textures and phrases performed by his son Jasper, to appearances by his daughter Ella and a dialogue with his wife Aundy. Keeping the vocal palette “in-house” reinforces the raw nature of a record that feels like a genuine family affair.
The single marks the start of a run of intentionally intimate shows across Japan and Europe, choosing sweaty, small-scale rooms over massive paydays. Claude might be dialing the “wrong number” for the mainstream, but for those who truly value quality, it’s exactly the call we’ve been waiting for. We can't wait to hear the full album.
