Angélique Kidjo's Batonga Receives New Afro House Rework from Cumbiafrica and Alé Kumá
A new reinterpretation of Angélique Kidjo's Batonga has been released via Barclay and Universal Music France, with producers Cumbiafrica and Alé Kumá reworking the celebrated track through an Afro House and Afro-Latin lens.
Originally released by the Grammy Award-winning Beninese singer-songwriter, Batonga remains one of Kidjo's most recognisable recordings. The new version brings together Afro House rhythms, Latin influences and electronic production while retaining the song's cultural foundations and multilingual vocal elements.
Blending organic percussion, rolling grooves and tropical electronic textures, the rework incorporates vocals in Spanish, Yoruba and Fon, creating a musical dialogue between West African traditions and contemporary Latin electronic sounds.
Available as both an Extended Mix and Radio Edit, the release offers a fresh take on a classic tune that will surely introduce it to a new
