ADE & Amsterdam 750 Unite to Celebrate the City’s 750th Anniversary with Music, Culture & Community

The Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation has announced a multidisciplinary collaboration between ADE and Amsterdam 750, honoring the city’s 750th anniversary while paying tribute to its rich history and musical culture. ADE 2025 will flow directly into the grand Amsterdam 750 celebration, creating a seamless bridge between two landmark moments.
A Shared Celebration of City and Culture
On 27 October 2025, Amsterdam officially turns 750. The city has planned a year-long series of festivities that culminates just one day after ADE. In the spirit of community and diversity, ADE and the City of Amsterdam have designed a joint program to close this anniversary year in style.
ADE Arts & Culture × 750
Within ADE Arts & Culture—the platform connecting music with visual art, performance, and immersive installations—comes a special week of ADE Arts & Culture × 750 events. Each day of ADE will feature a showcase in an iconic cultural space, carefully chosen to reflect the diversity of cultures and subcultures that make Amsterdam unique.
Highlights already confirmed:
Opening Specials at ARTIS Planetarium: a synth odyssey by Suzanne Ciani and a live visual–audio experience from Julius Horsthuis x Rival Consoles.
Thursday: Suriname Rising – 50 Years of Freedom in Music at the Concertgebouw, a tribute to Surinamese culture infused with electronic sounds.
Friday: ZERØBPM, a 39.5-hour ambient meditation marathon with 26 artists at Thomaskerk.
Saturday: A night dedicated to Chinese club culture at the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam.
Monday, 27 October: on the city’s official birthday, ADE × Amsterdam 750 presents an intimate ambient live session at the Concertgebouw with Young Marco, Legowelt, and Mary Lake, honoring the city that shaped their musical identities.
ADE Friends × 750
The ADE Friends program focuses on daytime community activities: social projects, fashion, sports, and lifestyle. For 2025, ADE Friends × 750 will spread across nearly 130 locations with hundreds of events—DJ sets in shops, radio livestreams, music-driven sports sessions, vinyl marathons, and more. Most activities are free, inviting both residents and visitors to join the celebrations and experience some of ADE’s most inspiring moments.

A Historic Year
Amsterdam 750 commemorates the city receiving its official rights in 1275. Festivities run from 27 October 2024 to 27 October 2025, with events in every neighborhood, major festivals like Festival Op de Ring and SAIL Amsterdam, exhibitions, performances, and community activities, all leading up to a massive birthday celebration on 27 October 2025.
